The Yoto Club is the best way to build your Yoto Library!
One way to increase your Yoto collection is the Yoto Club. The Yoto Club has been around for a few years, but it's gone through two major overhauls recently. Here's everything you need to know about the *current version of the Yoto Club that was announced in Summer 2024.*
What is the Yoto Club?
The Yoto Club is basically a subscription service for Yoto. If you have a Yoto player and want to build your collection, the Yoto Club is the cheapest way to do that. The Club gives you access to a number of perks, including some content you are "renting" while you pay for the club, 1-2 "free" cards a month, and a free shipping option.
Joining the Yoto Club is super easy. Just head to the website and subscribe!
Old version of the club (pre September 17, 2024):
For your first month, you get to choose two cards. Then every month after that, you get two credits so you can choose more cards each month. You can use your credits right away and get two new cards each month, or you can save them for the future. They do, however, expire after 12 months, so you'll need to use your credits within a year.
NEW VERSION OF CLUB (as of Sept 17, 2024)
The latest update of the Yoto club is a massive overhaul. Instead of one club, there are now three tiers within the club, with different perks and price points.
Explorer Level
- $4.99/month or $39.99/year
- The lowest price point give you digital access to all the Yoto Originals while you are a club member. There are ~140 cards included in this section of the app, and you can link any of them to a MYO card to use.
- No physical card credits are offered.
Collector Level
- $9.99/month, $89.99 per year (3 months free)
- The next level is called Collector. This level of the club gives you the same digital access to the Yoto Originals, plus 1 club credit each month.
- There's also a 10% discount off anything in the Yoto store, and free shipping on orders over $15.
Collector+
- $16.99/month, $149/year (3 months free)
- Collector+ is the highest level of the club. You get the same digital access to Yoto Originals, the same discount, the same free shipping minimum
- You get 2 Club Credits a month.
Everyone with a Yoto Club membership before Sept 17 will be automatically switched to the Collector+ plan. You'll start billing at the new rate on your next monthly payment or next yearly payment. That does mean that you can enjoy the new club at the old rate if you were on a yearly plan!
You can also change or cancel your Yoto Club Membership.
To know which cards you can choose for the Club, click the Yoto Club filter (a green toggle on the top right). Then you'll be able to see what cards are available.
After you choose your cards and check out, your cards are available instantly on the app for you to listen to, which I think is awesome! You will receive your cards in the mail shortly.
Pros of the Yoto Club - it's awesome for new Yoto owners!
The Yoto Club is a really great deal. Most Yoto cards on their own are between $8-15 each, so spending $17 a month to get two of them will definitely save you money as you grow your collection.
Being a member of the Yoto Club is the cheapest way to quickly and consistently build your Yoto card collection.
Other perks you get through the Yoto Club are 10% off everything at all times (even during sales!) and free shipping on orders over $15 (which is basically buying a two cards to trigger free shipping).
What's the best time to join the club?
Answer: before you've actually purchased your Yoto!
It sounds silly, but think about it.
You could pay $9.99 for the month in a single transaction by joining the club here.
Then you can place a second transaction to purchase your actual Yoto Player for 10% off (saving you 11.99, and covering your first transaction). You'll get 10% off any accessories like an adventure jacket. Any cards you add to the order are discounted, AND you get the bonus of another card with your club credit. And everything ships free!
IMPORTANT: Note that you have to join the club in it's own transaction, because you don't get the perks/dsicount until have you've paid for the club.
Cons of the Yoto Club
The Yoto Club isn't a good fit for every family. We recognize that and can't make a blanket statement that everyone should join.
The main reason people chose not to join the Yoto Club, or eventually cancelled their subscription, was the card selection. If you're a longtime Yoto user and have a large collection already, then you might not have seen enough in the club cards to woo you.
However, the new Yoto Club solves this issue by included over 850 cards in the club! (We think this means almost all cards will be in the club, but Yoto hasn't confirmed this.)
The OLD version of the club only had about 160 cards to choose from. While that is a good selection for brand new users, it didn't work for long-time fans.
We always recommend people peruse the Club Card selections and then decide if they want to join. When looking at the card store on Yoto's website, you can select "Yoto Club Cards." This will bring up the cards available through the Club specifically.
Every month, Yoto adds a few cards and removes a few cards from the Club selection, so even though you might have a large card collection, you might want to consider checking back every so often to see if the Yoto Club has added cards you want now.
1 Yoto Club Credit = 1 Card ... Packs included!
SUMMER 2024 UPDATE: We don't know if this is still true. Yoto has made it clear that MOST cards will be 1 credit, but that they reserve the right to adjust that for cards that are expensive to license. We won't know until we get an announcement from Yoto or Sept 17.
Recently Yoto started offering multi-card packs as part of the Yoto club! This is awesome, and a great example of how they listen to their customers, who were asking for it.
The pattern has all been 1 credit = 1 card. Check out all the cards here.
This math follows for packs in the club as well. If the pack has 3 cards, then you can redeem it for 3 credits. If it has 6 cards, you'll need 6 credits, etc.
Note on pricing: many people think of club credits as having a monetary value (ie $5 a credit, etc). However, Yoto has never suggested such a black and white view of what the club gives you. A club membership includes the perks of free-shipping, a flat discount, and 1-2 club credits a month. It does not break down to a monetary amount.
Some people have being doing the math for packs and are complaining that it "costs" more to buy certain packs with credits instead of cash. But Yoto makes it clear that credits do NOT equal cash. People forget that Yoto is a business and has to cover their costs, especially with licensing agreements.
Don't want to "spend" your credits?
Scenario 1: "I want to buy a card that is in the club, but I don't want to spend my credit on it. How do I do this?"
Answer: You can't. If you have a club card in the cart, it will apply any credits you have.
September 2024 Update: You can now check/uncheck the box to choose to use your credits in the cart. Yay! We've been hoping for this option for a long time.
Scenario 2: I don't want to spend all my credits on a pack, but they are automatically applying. What do I do."
Workaround: Put a few single Yoto Club cards in your cart, so that your credits no longer cover the pack. Then when you checkout, your credits will go towards the single cards only.
Yoto Club FAQ
How much does it cost?
Enrolling in the Yoto Club depends on which plan you choose. The plans are $3.99, $9.99, or $16.99 a month, and $39.99, $99.99 and $149.99 a year respectively.
If you choose to pay annually you'll get 2-3 months for free.
How do you join the Yoto Club?
Joining the Yoto Club is super easy. Just head to the website and subscribe!
What cards are available through the club?
The Yoto Club has lots of fun cards available! See them all here. Right now the club has 789 cards in it, which is almost ALL the cards in the US library!
Some examples are: Anne of Green Gables, The Story of Babar, Soul, The Phantom Tollbooth, Are You My Mother, James and the Giant Peach, The Fairytale Hairdresser, 101 Dalmatians, Ramona and Beezus, and so many more.
How do I know what cards are leaving the Yoto club?
Head to this page and scroll down. There's a slider for cards new to the club and cards leaving the club. Usually 10 cards show up in each category on the first weekday of each month.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yep! If you have gotten a lot of cards and no longer need or want any of the available cards, you can cancel your membership renewal. That means you keep the benefits you've paid for the allotted time, but your subscription will not renew.
If you've paid for an annual subscription, contact support for a pro-rated refund for unused months.
There are absolutely people who joining for a few months on the monthly plan, cancel it and and then repeat. No harm, no foul.
In Fall 2023, Yoto changed their terms to stop issuing refunds for unused months of an annual membership. Their terms now say:
"Credits are not refundable once issued, on either monthly or annual subscriptions. By signing up for a membership, you acknowledge and agree to this.
Please note that cancelling an annual Yoto Club subscription only cancels its renewal. You will still receive all months that you have paid for when purchasing Yoto Club."
So basically, they don't give refunds, the same as many other companies.
What happens to my credits if I cancel?
Outstanding credits is changing with the new club as well.
OLD YOTO CLUB CREDITS: If you cancel your membership and still have some credits from the old club saved up that you haven't used yet, you do get to keep those! They last 12 months from their issue date and then they expire.
However, note that you will no longer have the perk of free shipping without an active Club membership. But the credits themselves will still work even if your membership has been canceled.
In the NEW YOTO CLUB, the credits are use-them-or-lose them when you cancel. This makes sense because all your card credits are offered upfront. Credits received after Spetemeber 17 will only be valid while you have an active membership.
Is the Yoto Club available worldwide?
Unfortunately, the Yoto Club is only available in the US and the UK right now, so if you're living in a different country or region, it's not currently available. They do say they'd like to bring it to more countries in the future, so you can always check back later!
If you have a Yoto player, especially if you just got one recently, you should really consider joining the Yoto Club. It's a cheap way to get 2 new cards every month!
