Easter is coming right up; it's early this year! This post has tips and ideas for celebrating Easter with a Yoto player. From new Yoto cards and MYO ideas, to Easter egg hunts and basket fillers... we've gathered all our Yoto Easter tips here.
If you're planning on giving your children some Yoto cards or accessories for Easter, here are some of our favorite ideas to make a Yoto a bigger part of your holiday.
Easter Egg Hunt: What size plastic egg do I need for Yoto Cards?
One of our most popular Yoto Easter ideas is doing an Easter egg hunt with Yoto cards! Kids adore Easter Egg hunts, and it's such a fun way to celebrate the holiday.
You can gift your child some extra cards by adding them to your other eggs.
Here's the trick though: the "regular" sized plastic eggs you're used to won't fit a Yoto card. They are too short! The great majority of plastic easter eggs are 2.25" tall, and then the "large" ones are 3.5" tall. A Yoto card is only 3/5 itself, but because you need to fit it inside the curvature of the egg, you need a bigger container.
But don't worry - we've collected exact links of plastic Easter eggs that will fit Yoto cards! We did the research and ordered a bunch, and here's what we found.
If you want to hid Yoto Cards in Easter Eggs WITH the card packaging on, then you need 6" tall eggs.
We ordered both of these sets of easter eggs to use with Yoto cards in their package:
However, If you're planning on unwrapping first, and putting Yoto Cards in Easter eggs WITHOUT the packaging, then you can use 5" tall eggs.
I prefer the smaller 5" eggs, and unwrapping the cards beforehand so that they fit nicely inside. This also works especially well for sets, where you can split up a set of 5 or 6 to have more eggs to hide.
Note: We ordered several sets of 5" tall eggs, and unfortunately they've all gone out of stock since then! We're trying to keep this page up to date with any IN-STOCK five-inch Easter eggs we find. These were popular this year!
I'm so excited to hide Yoto Cards in Easter Eggs - and I know I can keep these eggs to use for future years as well.
Easter Scavenger Hunt With Yoto
Want to really make your holiday special? Plan a scavenger hunt to find an Easter basket! We've seen some really creative people make custom Easter basket hunts with the Yoto player!
The Yoto Player makes it easy, because you can quickly record clues and add them to a playlist. Here's a few ideas to spark your unique scavenger hunt:
- Decide where you are hiding the basket, and write down all the clues leading up to it. That will make it much easier to record when you're ready (and let's be honest, that will proabbly be late at night in your closet.)
- Consider changing your voice to make the kids believe the audio messages are from the Easter Bunny himself!
- If you have lots of spare MYO cards, you can put each new clue on a separate card. (This will require separate playlists - but note that you can use any MYO cards you have, and rewrite them to put the clue on, and then quickly rewrite them back to your original playlist afterward.)
- Or, put all your clues on a single playlist, and direct the child to "play track 3 when you arrive at the next location!" Take advantage of the setting toggle on the playlist page that stops the sound after each track.
- You can consider using Yoto icons as an additional visual clue if needed.
- To start it off, you could have the Yoto player suddenly "announce" the Easter bunny has come - maybe the Yoto just starts playing a message from the Easter bunny during breakfast? You could have a premade track/playlist ready on your phone and then start the player secretly.
- The kids can follow each clue and play the next card/track to take them through the hunt!
